Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for details.
A senior political figure said the attack made him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
